Alexandria VA Homes for Sale: Welcome Home to Cameron Station

Welcome Home to Cameron Station

Quite often, I will get a call or an email asking for information on homes for sale in Cameron Station - and usually, the inquiry is from someone who lives not only outside the DC Metro area, but out of state.  Good news travels far and wide, apparently, about this very popular planned community in Alexandria, VA.

What makes Cameron Station so popular?

I'm not sure if it's the serene surroundings..with Ben Brenman Park bordering the east end of the community, with its lake, soccer field, tennis courts, fenced dog park, bike trails and seasonal Farmers Market...

...or, right in the heart of the neighborhood, Main Street Retailers, such as Food Matters gourmet market and cafe; Bright Start Learning Center and Pre-School;  Cameron Cafe upscale coffee shop...there's even a dry cleaner, family dentist and convenience market.

Just outside the neighborhood are grocery stores, a terrific public library, a 24 hour drug store as well as a wide variety of other retailers.

Maybe it's the transportation options, including a neighborhood Metro shuttle plus a super convenient location near the Van Dorn Metro station as well as stops for DASH and Metro Bus.  Or, if your commute requires you to drive, you're right down the street from 395 and 495, which will get you wherever you need to go in the metro DC area.  Cameron Station is convenient to Old Town Alexandria and Reagan National Airport, too.

...Or perhaps it's Samuel W. Jackson Elementary School, located in the west end of the neighborhood, adjacent to Armistead L. Boothe Park, with lighted athletic fields and playgrounds, picnic tables, tennis and basketball courts.

The neighborhood amenities probably have something to do with the popularity of the neighborhood...the outdoor pool and the state of the art Cameron Club Fitness Facility, which offers a wide selection of exercise equipment, as well as a variety of group classes.  Or, if you prefer, private trainers are also available.

Or maybe Cameron Station is popular simply because of its beautiful selection of homes...from upscale condos to stylish townhomes to elegant detached single family homes, designed to emulate the architectural styles of the 18th and 19th centuries, with its pocket parks, colonial street lamps and brick sidewalks, Cameron Station is a cozy community with a small town feel...where historic meets contemporary.

Love stopping in at Cameron Cafe when I'm in the area.  I used to shop at the Commissary when Cameron Station was still a military installation.

Chris:  Thanks!  It's a great neighborhood with such a terrific community feel.

Cindy:  Some days I feel as if Cameron Cafe is my 2nd office.  While you were shopping at the commissary at Cameron Station, I think we were shopping over at Columbus AFB (altho my husband was Army, not AF).  The army base was long gone by the time we landed here.  Amazing the changes.

Cindy:  We were living in a little town called "Pickensville, AL" and yeah, it was as small and country as it sounds...but it was right on the banks of the Tenn-Tom Waterway, which was great...between Tuscaloosa, AL and Columbus, MS, so Columbus was our closest commissary.  Paul was IRR (individual ready reserve) at the time.  Our county was "dry" (still is), so off to Columbus we would go to buy alcoholic beverages...and shop at McRae's department store!  Oh, the memories!
